Recruit workout

U.S. Army recruit Floyd Guillory of Vidor is supervised by Houston Recruiting Battalion soldiers as he climbs a rock wall at the American Legion Post in Beaumont on Saturday, July 16, 2005. The recruits also toured the Port of Beaumont and viewed military equipment.
Enough for now,

Nice framing.

I like the framing too, but I'm not so sure about the crop itself. I would have liked to see more of the guy you used to frame. Personal preference though. I tend to like negative space if used well.

At this angle and focal length, the remainder of the frame is nothing but cloudy white sky. With this crop, the frame is held together rather than the corners bleeding onto the page.
It also allows for a correct exposure on the shadow side of the wall because the foreground is also shaded.

I learned to shoot on a hasselblad so I'm still a sucker for a good square image. Nice job.

ahh, hah! I see. I was picturing the rest of the frame to the left.
