I planned to have a mini-novel ready today about newsroom digital workflow. However, I got some last-minute gigs and ran out of time. Consequently it isn't ready yet. However, I'll let y'all know the most important aspect of multi-user digital workflow.
First - again this is probably the most important part - immediately check the scanning room to see who else is in it. If nobody else is there, you have control of the stereo and lights.
Turn off/on all desk and overhead lights and put the stereo on the music/news you like and guard it like a pit bull. Everything else is easy from here - IF you maintain control of the stereo and most of the lights. At least this part is like the darkrooms of yesteryear. :-)
