Testing communication

Chris Mayes tries unsuccessfully to use his Cingular cell phone in the Willow Creek area of Beaumont on Monday, Sept. 26. The country club neighborhood had far less damage since it is newer with much smaller trees. Other cell phone services remained operational or quickly erected temporary relay towers in Beaumont.

Good example of a specific cutline to tell something the photo can't quite portray.

I hope you're catching a couple breaths by now. I really admire your dedication not only to our field, but to your loyal Journalism blog readers too.

I suppose it also means I couldn't convey the story in the image. :-(

I appreciate everyone visiting while we're in recovery mode. The initial survivor/infrastructure phase is complete. Now, the human stories of financial ruin have started. Of course, if Hurricane Wilma takes an unexpected turn, the story will change again.
