West Side story
Many rooves in the West Side neighborhood still have blue tarps following Hurricane Rita in Port Arthur on Thursday, April 6, 2006. Port Arthur officials are looking at ways to revitalize the dying area located between the Port of Port Arthur and the oil refinery district.

Ronald Mitchell, 54, starts his barbecue grill during a day off from work in the West Side neighborhood in Port Arthur. He was born and raised in the neighborhood and wants to see positive steps taken by the city.
Anthony Williams has lived three years in the West Side neighborhood in Port Arthur. He said he's worked hard to repair his home since Hurricane Rita and wants the city to do their part to repair and maintain the neighborhood.
Several homes such as this one near the corner of West 6th Street and Lincoln remain tagged unfit for use after Hurricane Rita in the West Side neighborhood of Port Arthur.
