Professional photojournalist Mark M. Hancock discusses photojournalism and the eccentricities associated with gathering images for daily newspapers and magazines.
A young bald eagle flaps it's wings in the breeze over its nest near FM 105 in Orange County on Wednesday, March 28, 2007. The young eagles are expected to be able to fly and migrate soon.
I waited two hours for the parents to show. They were hunting until after dark. Since we only have one known pair down here, my options are limited.
If I can get to Orange County this week, I want to try one more time before they boogie up north. A nearby resident told me the youngsters are still in town as of yesterday.

Very nice. Are you going to keep your eyes on this guy?
It's nothing compared to your shots.

You're too kind. :-)
Just being honest (and jealous).
I went by the nest today and there were no eagles for 90 minutes. All four may have been hunting, but I think they've gone north for the summer.
I'll watch out for them up here.
They'll be easy to find. Listen for the ones that say "Y'all" a lot. :-)
