A fire department engine is visible through the gaping hole in the side of the Bon Wier Volunteer Fire Department station in Bon Wier on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005. A tree fell onto the sheet metal building during Hurricane Rita.

A fire department engine is visible through the gaping hole in the side of the Bon Wier Volunteer Fire Department station in Bon Wier. Unlike other area VFDs, the station was unfit to serve as an emergency center for the community.
