Y'all seem to know how to have fun down there in Texas. Seems like every couple of weeks there's a festival of some kind.
Actually, most weekends there are anywhere from one to five festivals going on (except during hurricane recovery).
Festivals are the driving force behind the tourism industry in Texas.
The absolute best fest in Texas is GrapeFest in Grapevine (north of Dallas). It involves paying $20 to be in an fenced-in area and sampling wines from around the world for 90 minutes.
We call it the "Cage Match" because most sophisticated folks are hanging off the fence by the end of 90 minutes. ;-}
It's in September. It's called the People's Choice award. The info is here: http://www.tourtexas.com/grapevine/grapefest/info.html.
BTW, it's only tastes (small samples). So you need to taste a lot to make it into a cage match. ;-}
