Professional photojournalist Mark M. Hancock discusses photojournalism and the eccentricities associated with gathering images for daily newspapers and magazines.
Chip Tredo poses for a portrait near DFW Airport on Thursday, January 20, 2005. He commutes on his bicycle from his home in The Colony to his job as a TSA baggage screener at DFW Airport.
Nice timing to get the plane in there too. Shots like that don't happen by accident, they take planning and forethought. Kudos to you for going to the trouble when many PJs wouldn't.
I wished I could have gotten the planes's shape under the wheel of the bike, but I was laying on the ground. I would have needed to dig a ditch or put the subject on the hood of my truck (before airport security freaked out) to accomplish it.
I always like that picture. Made me kind rather famous at the airport. Even people that don't work for TSA were coming up to me saying "hey... I saw you in the paper". I have that page from the Dallas Morning News framed and hanging in my garage near the bicycles. Good times. :-) - Chip

Good to hear from you Chip. Glad the image made you semi-famous. :-)
I may be at the airport often once I move back to Dallas.
