A U.S. Coast Guard vessel escorts Texas Department of Transportation ferries across Galveston Bay on Monday, July 25, 2005. The escorts were part of stepped-up Homeland Security efforts to make a visible show of force at vulnerable targets within the United States.
Today (August 4) is national Coast Guard Day.
